Ein Zeichner hat ihn so skizziert,
da fängt er bei den Hüften an,
ein schmaler Leib aus wenig Strichen,
die Schultern rund, der Hals steigt daraus auf,
das breite Kinn, um das sich eine Binde schlingt
breit weiß, und die verhüllt den Mund.
Bis dann die Augen und die Nase,
das Haar, so spärlich, grau, ihn zeigen wie bekannt.
Glutvoll die Augen, dicht die Brauen drüber, doch
stets irrt der Blick nach unten ab
zur Binde.
Die Binde weiß, des Ohnemund, des Sehers?
Die Binde, ihm zur Strafe angelegt?
Der Zeichner schweigt davon, der Dichter –

POET PORTRAIT

A draftsman sketched him like this,
starting at the hips,
a narrow body of few strokes,
the shoulders round, the neck rising from it,
the wide chin with a bandage wrapped around it
wide and white, covering the mouth.
Until the eyes and the nose,
the hair, so sparse, gray, show him as known.
The eyes full of fire, the eyebrows are thick, but
the gaze always wanders downwards
to the bandage.
The white bandage of Ohnemund, the seer?
The bandage, put on him as punishment?
The draftsman is silent about it, the poet –

PORTRET DE POET

Un desenator l-a schițat așa,
el începe de la șolduri,
un corp îngust din câteva linii,
umerii rotunzi, gâtul ridicându-se,
bărbia lată în jurul căreia este înfășurat un bandaj
larg si alb, care acoperă gura.
Până la ochi și nas,
părul, atât de rar, cărunt, il arata asa cum il cunoastem.
Ochii plini de foc, sprâncenele sunt dese, dar
privirea rataceste mereu în jos
spre bandaj.
Bandajul alb al lui Ohnemund, clarvăzătorul??
Bandajul, pus ca pedeapsă?
Desenatorul nu vorbeste despre asta, poetul –
